The Practice of Cultural Humility (CEC)

The Practice of Cultural Humility invites participants to explore how self-awareness, openness, and lifelong learning can foster equity, trust, and inclusion in coaching. Through reflection and practical strategies, attendees will learn to navigate bias, power dynamics, and systemic barriers while empowering clients to define wellness on their own terms. Facilitated by Susan McGarry, a therapist and longtime advocate for mental and physical well-being, this session offers a compassionate, experience-informed approach to building culturally responsive and client-centered practices.

Upon completion of this course, the coach will be able to:

  • Define 4 internal and 4 external challenges to practicing cultural humility in coaching.
  • Define and explore the importance of terms such as Health Equity, Health Inequity, Health Equality, Health Literacy, Health Numeracy in coaching.
  • Describe the importance of cultural competency in coaching the whole person.
